Your First Appointment

At your first appointment, your acupuncturist will meet with you privately, orient you to the clinic, discuss your primary goals for treatment, and create a treatment plan specific to your concerns.

After that initial chat, you can recline in any available chair. Most people receive between 8-16 acupuncture needles at each visit, but that can vary depending on the person and the condition.  Once the needles are in and you're comfortable, just relax and enjoy the space. Many people fall asleep during this time.  Our clinic has been very intentionally designed to promote healing and relaxation.  We play soft music and have extra blankets and pillows for your comfort.

To maximize your experience, we recommend that you:
  • Plan to wear lose fitting clothing that can be rolled up to your knees and elbows.
  • Be completely scent-free to protect our clinic air quality.
  • Count on your appointment lasting about 1 hour with a few extra minutes on the first visit.
  • Commit to your treatment plan.  We generally recommend two acupuncture treatments per week for the first two weeks for most conditions, reassessing frequency and progress after the first week or two. Click here to learn more about frequency of visits.
  • Bring personal items you may need for your comfort.  We have soft music playing in our treatment room. If you would like to listen to your own music or guided meditation feel free to bring your own device and headphones. Alternately, if you would prefer a quieter session, you may want to bring earplugs.

An Asian man in his fifties lays face up on a massage table. He is not wearing a shirt and his jeans are rolled up to his knees. He has a black pillow underneath his knees and head. Acupuncturist Lynn is inserting an acupuncture needle into his left arm. His eyes are closed and he appears calm.

Clinic Policies

Our clinic works because our patients value the resource we offer. Please make yourself aware of our policies so you can participate in keeping this clinic affordable and a cooperative resource:
  •  Please read and familiarize yourself with our Updates page before making an appointment.
  • You may be charged a $30 missed appointment fee if you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice for a reason other than illness or disability.  If you have a prepaid visit card, the fee will be collected by deducting a visit from your card.
  • We ask you to be responsible for being on time for your appointment. We will always try to accommodate if you are late.  However, if you arrive more than 20 minutes late, you may need to reschedule at your own cost.
  • We are a SCENT-FREE CLINIC. This is for the health and safety of our patients who may have multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS), allergies, asthma, or other respiratory illnesses.  If you come with perfumes, scented personal care products, after shave, fresh smoke, incense, or wet nail polish you may be asked to reschedule.
  • Lastly, we kindly request that you are mindful to keep noise to a minimum and to use a soft voice inside the clinic.
